Government Shutdown
Ein Government Shutdown (englisch für Stilllegung der Regierung) ist in den Vereinigten Staaten die Lage, in der die Behörden der Bundesregierung ihre Tätigkeit zu großen Teilen einstellen und nur noch die als unerlässlich angesehenen Aufgaben erledigen. Der Regierungsapparat fährt bei einem solchen Shutdown herunter, wenn die bisherige rechtliche Grundlage für die Bewilligung von Haushaltsmitteln ausläuft und sich Senat, Repräsentantenhaus und Präsident nicht rechtzeitig über weitere Haushaltsmittel einigen, indem sie ein entsprechendes Gesetz beschließen.

politics, a government shutdown occurs when Congress fails to pass, or the
President refuses to sign, appropriations legislation funding federal
government operations and agencies. In this case, the current interpretation of
the Antideficiency Act requires that the federal government begin a
"shutdown" of the affected activities involving the furlough of
non-essential personnel and curtailment of agency activities and services.

We, the survivors of the 2004 man-made tsunami
disaster in Thailand know that US Departments and their authorities are not
concerned about the safety of US and Western citizens overseas anyway. They do not
fulfill their duties and grossly violate them. So it does not matter if they
