Das „Time Magazine“ veröffentlichte jetzt ein
Interview mit dem US-Präsidenten Donald Trump in seiner neuen Titelgeschichte.
Diese steht unter dem Motto „Is Truth Dead?“
In
diesem Interview hat der amerikanische Präsident zu einem Journalisten namens
Michael Scherer selbstbewusst gesagt:
„Ich kann so schlecht nicht sein,
weil ich Präsident bin und du nicht.“
An
Stelle von Herrn Trump hätte ich wenig präsidial aber zutreffend gesagt: …weil ich Präsident bin und du nicht, du arroganter
Scheißkerl von der heimischen Lügenpresse - tragender Säule der hiesigen fünften Kolonne.
Ansonsten hätte ich noch zum Schluss und zum Abschied hinzugefügt: Und nun geh du unverschämter verlogener Wahrheitsapostel von jenem Schmierblatt, von dem wir über das menschengemachte Tsunami-Massaker 2004 in Thailand – in dem massenweise und vermeidbar ein paar tausend Touristen, auch Bürger der USA, zum Opfer fielen – kein einziges Wort der Wahrheit vernommen haben, geh du dreistes Rindvieh nun zu deinen Auftraggebern und hol dir deine dreißig Judas-Silberlinge als Lohn für den Verrat an der Wahrheit. Übrigens: Wie der Knoblauchgestank deiner Auftraggeber schon meilenweit aus dem Maul wahrnehmbar ist, so auch die Chuzpe bei dir, du elendes Miststück.

Can President Trump Handle the Truth?

Before he got off the phone, I tried one more time to get Trump to
answer a question about the risk to his reputation caused by false and
ever changing utterances. Once again, he would not accept the premise.
"Hey, look," he said. "I can't be doing so badly, because I'm President
and you're not." As a factual matter, the last part of this statement is
indisputably true. And with that, he graciously said goodbye and went
back to running the affairs of the most powerful country in the world.

Michael Scherer has been TIME’s Washington Bureau Chief since 2013, overseeing political coverage in the magazine and online. He is also the author of 20 TIME magazine cover stories, including the 2012 and 2016 Persons of the Year.He joined TIME in December 2007 as a campaign reporter covering Republicans during the 2008 election. He was named White House correspondent in January 2009, traveling around the world with President Obama. He won the National Press Club’s Lee Walczak Award for Political Excellence for his articles on the 2012 Obama reelection effort, and the 2014 New York Press Club Award for Political Coverage. He served as a member of the board of the White House Correspondents’ Association from 2010 to 2013.
Before joining TIME, Scherer was the Washington correspondent for Salon.com, where he covered politics and elections. He has also worked as the Washington correspondent for Mother Jones, an assistant editor at the Columbia Journalism Review and a cub reporter for the Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northampton, Mass.).
Scherer is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the University of California at Santa Cruz.
